Unique suitcase stereo - including amplifier and speakers - No. 2 in DYNNYRNE, Tasmania for sale

This is an opportunity to purchase a truly unique home stereo. Whenever people come round to my place they almost always comment on the cool stereo. Sound quality has been a primary design objective in these stereos. They are extensively braced with plywood and fibreglass and are much more than just a suitcase with speakers stuffed in it. A few small businesses have sprung up offering suitcase speakers but I?m yet to see one which has actually focused on sound-quality rather than just visual impact. These stereos have been extensively measured, and individual crossovers tailored to them in order to ensure a smooth frequency response.
Each of these stereo has an in-built amplifier and volume control. You just plug in your source of music via the stereo 6.5mm jack and it?s good to go. Included in the sale is a 6.5mm > 3.5mm stereo cable so you can plug your phone, laptop, or other source that uses a 3.5mm jack. Also included is the IEC mains cable which plugs into a regular powerpoint and provides power for the stereo.
These speakers are plenty loud enough to throw a small house party. Please don?t ask what ?wattage ratings? these systems have. This is a poorly understood topic and ?RMS watts? power ratings are next to useless. Instead, come and have a listen and notice how loudly they play, and how clean they sound compared to your average crappy little ipod dock station. There is no way to trick the laws of physics, and the tiny speakers you find in those sorts of docks make for high-distortion, non-existent bass, and low volume capability.
I?ve got three of these stereos for sale and once they?re sold that?s it, they?re gone. Each stereo system sounds slightly different so I suggest coming round and having a listen to all three and making a choice. Search for ?suitcase stereo? on Australialisted to see the others that are for sale.
I am legally obligated to let you know that this is a DIY project and does not have electrical certification. I do however have extensive experience in electronics and mains wiring. The stereo is fused on both the primary (mains voltage) and secondary (power supply voltage) and is thus electrically safe. This item is also sold as-is. If you experience issues with it down the road feel free to contact me and we should be able to work something out but no warranty is implied in the sale.
This specific stereo features 10? woofers, 4.5? cone midranges, 1? dome tweeters. These are from Radiotechnika branded speakers, produced in the Soviet Union back when engineering was valued over costing. They are housed in a distressed antique wooden case with a beautiful leather handle. This stereo produces a clean, crisp sound, with great bass impact and plays ridiculously loud.
